The PASS Coalition is available to assist local schools in preparing to meet the requirements of Oklahoma’s Raines Law.
Raines Law requires schools to provide fentanyl abuse prevention and drug poisoning awareness education to students in grades 6 through 12 each year.
Many schools will provide this training during Red Ribbon Week, a nationwide campaign that promotes healthy, drug-free choices among youth.
PASS is currently reviewing educational materials and resources that can help schools provide this important training. The coalition is willing to work with school districts by sharing resources, providing prevention information, and helping connect schools with appropriate training materials.
Fentanyl is a strong synthetic opioid that has contributed to a growing number of overdose deaths across the nation. Education and awareness are important tools in helping young people understand the dangers of fentanyl and counterfeit pills.
In addition to supporting schools with Raines Law requirements, PASS works throughout Garvin County to prevent the misuse of prescription drugs, marijuana and other substances.
Through grant-funded programs, community partnerships, and educational initiatives, the coalition provides resources and prevention education to youth, parents, schools, businesses, and community organizations.
“Prevention starts with education,” said PASS representative Jayci Enerson, “By working together with schools and community partners, we can help young people make informed decisions and build healthier, safer communities.”
