PV offers free trash dump days in October

Pauls Valley is waiving dump fees at the city’s transfer station for residents during the month of October.

The free dump days being offered this month include a few changes from what the city normally offers during the spring, which city officials hope will make the process more convenient for residents.

For the entire month of October Pauls Valley water customers with a voucher can bring eligible items to the transfer station Monday through Saturday, during regular business hours. The city is also setting two rolloff dumpsters in different areas of town for those who are unable to make the trek out to the transfer station. Those dumpsters will be in the 100 block of E. Charles Ave. and the 400 block of W. Leslie through Nov. 2.

Extending the free dump days through the week, instead of limiting them to Saturday only, and adding the roll-off dumpsters should help eliminate the long lines that tend to form during the spring events and make the service more accessible to residents, according to Tawni Huggans, Pauls Valley’s director of economic development, tourism and community development.

“Part of community development is listening,” Huggans said. “We are listening. We are hearing the feedback we are getting, and we are trying to find ways we can improve the services we provide for our citizens.”

Each municipal water customer is allowed four vouchers to use during the month of October. Vouchers can be picked up from the water billing office at 201 S. Willow St.

Huggans said the purpose of the vouchers is to help the city track the tonnage generated by the free dump days. Those numbers are reported to Keep Oklahoma Beautiful for grant purposes, which helps the city continue to offer similar clean-up events and programs.

Items that cannot be dumped at the transfer station during the free dump days include raw trash, liquid paint, chemicals, oil and burn barrels with ash.

There is also a limit of three tires per customer. Additional tires can be dumped for a $10 per tire fee.
