Garvin County recognizes National 4-H Week

Garvin County is joining communities across the nation in celebrating National 4-H Week, October 4-10. The Garvin County Board of County Commissioners signed a proclamation Monday recognizing the county’s intent to promote National 4-H Week. Commissioners also approved a request to fly the 4-H flag from the Garvin County Courthouse flagpole during the week.

This year’s National 4-H Week theme, “Beyond Ready,” celebrates the skills, experiences and confidence young people gain through 4-H. The 4-H program helps youth develop leadership, communication, teamwork, responsibility and problem-solving skills while encouraging them to explore their interests and prepare for their futures.

“4-H gives young people opportunities to learn by doing, take on leadership roles and become active members of their communities,” said Melissa Koesler, Garvin County Extension Director. “Our Garvin County 4-H members are developing skills that will serve them well far beyond their 4-H years.”

Garvin County 4-H encourages families and community members to recognize the accomplishments of local 4-H members and volunteers during National 4-H Week and learn more about opportunities to become involved in the program.
