Charles Wendell Roady, 77, of Elmore City, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026, surrounded by family, after a lifelong battle with heart disease.
Funeral services were Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Elmore City, with Rio Taylor officiating.
Mr. Roady was born October 30, 1948, in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, to William and Opal Roady. He graduated from Elmore City High School in 1966, completed barber college, and then served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard until 1973.
Beloved by friends and family for his outgoing personality and selfless nature, Mr. Roady was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved all things outdoors. He was a member of the Elmore City First Baptist Church and a devout follower of Jesus Christ.
After serving in the Oklahoma National Guard Mr. Roady worked various jobs but primarily pursued a career as a barber in both Oklahoma City and Pauls Valley until his retirement in 2000.
Charles met his wife and lifelong love, Sharon Nix, of Hennepin, Oklahoma, in 1964 at the King and Queen Carnival in Elmore City. The two married on June 1, 1968, and became the parents of three children: Kelly Smith, 57, of Moore, Oklahoma; Michael Roady, 54, of Foster, Oklahoma; and Brian Roady, 51, of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mr. Roady is survived by his wife, Sharon; his three children, Kelly, Michael, and Brian; five grandchildren, Destiny, Faith, Brock, Lane and Emmeline; daughter- in-law Stacy Roady; in-laws Chris and Debby Flowers, Vicki and Mark Richardson, and Walton and Jeom Wilson; 11 great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Barbra West and Bill Roady, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Wanda Elder; and son-in-law, Lance.
