Christina “Chris” Benthin, beloved mother, grandmother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Maysville, Oklahoma, on August 17, 2026, just days after celebrating her 72nd birthday. Born on August 14, 1954, in Rueckweiler, Germany, Chris forged a life filled with kindness, devotion and a spirit of heartfelt generosity.
Chris’s early journey began in her native Germany, but it was in Maysville that she built a home and a legacy.
Through the years, her warm personality and dedication to others became evident in all aspects of her life. Her career as a cook at Papa’s allowed her to make a profound impact on her community. Chris delighted in welcoming the local school kids during their lunchtime visits; she was immensely proud of each of them and never missed an opportunity to let them know it. Her connection with Maysville’s youth and townspeople was genuine and lasting, fueled by her servant’s heart and unwavering willingness to help in any way she could.
Chris deeply valued the friendships she developed in Maysville, cherishing each bond and nurturing her relationships with compassion and care. Those who knew Chris regarded her as a steadfast friend, always ready with a kind word and a helping hand. Her love for her community was mirrored in the joy she took in everyday interactions, making even the smallest moments meaningful.
A pillar of Chris’s happiness was her family, whom she loved dearly. She found profound joy in her marriage to her late husband, William “Bill” Benthin, whom she united with in 1992. Their partnership was a source of strength and comfort to Chris, and his passing in 2019 marked a significant loss. Yet, she carried forward the spirit of their life together with courage and fond remembrance. Chris became a loving mother to Glenn, Barbara (Dale), David (Heather), and Brenda (Jerome).
Chris’s life was marked by a genuine care for others, a humble pride in service, and an enduring love for her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and a community forever touched by her thoughtfulness.
Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly recalled by those whose lives she brightened.
Chris is survived by: son, Dieter Donner and Vanessa of Germany; daughter, Michela Donner and Frank of Germany; step-children: Glenn, Barbara (Dale), David (Heather) and Brenda (Jerome); grandchildren: Valeri, Chantel, Michelle, Steven, Lena and Dustin; and great-granddaughter, Amelia.
Chris is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Benthin.
