Donnie Howard Higginbottom passed away August 26, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 78. He was born on September 22, 1947, in Monterey, California, and lived a life marked by devotion to family, hard work and character that leaves a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
A 1965 graduate of Sulphur High School, Donnie went on to complete his freshman year at East Central University.
He then served in the U. S. Army from 1967 to 1969 and was a Vietnam War veteran. He later worked in the oilfield and eventually became a maintenance technician for Bemis, where he made many lifelong friends. He was respected for his dedication and loyalty.
More than anything, Donnie loved and was proud of his family. He considered them his greatest accomplishment, along with his extensive tool collection.
On November 24, 1981, he married the love of his life, Debi Grissom. Together with their two children, they made their home in Maysville, Oklahoma, for the entire length of their 45-year marriage.
Both Donnie and Debi are members of the First Baptist Church of Maysville.
Donnie loved his OU Sooners and would never use the L word (LSU). He was a heck of a fisherman and was the best storyteller. Some of life’s happiest moments were found in simple, treasured times at the lake, and camping with his children and grandchildren. The impressions he made on those who he leaves behind are irreplaceable. Donnie was patient and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was simply and truly, a good man to know.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Debi Higginbottom; his son, Clayton Higginbottom of Sulphur, Oklahoma; his daughter, Daubi Aaron and Shane of Davis, Oklahoma; his brothers, Gary Higginbottom and Leila of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and Larry Higginbottom of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Damien Higginbottom of Rogers, Arkansas, Jarron Holbert of Las Vegas, Nevada, Baylee Carlos of Norman, Oklahoma, and River Aaron of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; his great-grandchildren, Wylie Bay Holbert and Beckham Carlos; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Higginbottom and Eulema (Jones) Higginbottom.
Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Maysville, Oklahoma.
Burial to follow at Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville.
