Ramona Lindsey

Ramona Gwendolyn Lindsey died with her oldest daughter at her side on June 2, 2026, in an Ardmore nursing home.

She was born Nov. 18, 1954, in Pauls Valley to Earnest and Mazie (Riddle) Parker, their fifth child and youngest daughter. Ramona grew up on a farm southwest of Lindsay.

.After graduating from Lindsay High School, she attended the University of Science Arts of Oklahoma. In addition to earning a bachelor’s degree, Ramona met the love of her life, a basketball recruit from New York City, Jim Lindsey. They both graduated in 1976, and on Oct. 11, 1980, they defied societal pressures and married in the USAO Chapel. Ramona was skilled on a keyboard, capable of accurately typing over 100 words per minute. This skill helped her find work in a variety of office settings over the years, including Harper Oil, Covercraft and The Trails Golf Club. While raising two daughters, she led Girl Scout troops, worked as a substitute teacher at Whitebead School and cheered at many athletic events. Ramona enjoyed arts and crafts in a variety of mediums. In the 80s and 90s, she had a side gig (before it was cool) selling T-shirts she decorated with ironon appliqué and paint. She also sewed dresses for her daughters’ special events, and later enjoyed scrapbooking with her fellow Girl Scout leaders. Craft projects were a favorite activity at the nursing home.

She appreciated a well-written mystery, whether in a book or on television. Ramona celebrated many of her own birthdays by attending the American Quarter Horse World Championship Show. She also loved her pet dogs, particularly Dazzle, who was with her when her daughters went to college, when Jim passed away and when her eldest grandchild was born.

Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, James Lindsey; parents, Earnest and Mazie Parker; siblings, Cathie, Earnest Ray, Billy Lee, John Earl, and Gary Parker; and nephews Kurtis Parker and Dexter Johnson.

Surviving family members include her daughters, Jennifer Lindsey of Lindsay and Jessica Lindsey of Lewisville, Texas; grandchildren, Olivia Lindsey, Allyson Ford and James Ford; aunt Lovie Chatham; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Ramona Lindsey were Saturday at Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
