Joyce Meyer Davis

Joyce Deanne (Meyer) Davis, a loving wife, wonderful mother, and a friend to all, passed away on June 27, 2024, at the age of 63, at her home in Wayne, Oklahoma, surrounded by loved ones. 

Joyce was born June 9, 1961, in Norman, Oklahoma, to Gerald Dan Meyer and Joetta (Kane) Meyer. She was raised in Wayne, Oklahoma, where she enjoyed growing up on a farm. Her favorite hobbies included riding horses and going fishing. Joyce graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1979. She then went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1983. Later, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Education from East Central University in 1997. 

She married the love of her life, Larry George Davis, on August 23, 1985. They made their home in Wayne, Oklahoma, where they raised their three children, Andrew, Kacy, and Carly. 

Joyce worked in many different capacities during her time on earth. Her first job was in banking, working for First American Bank in Purcell, Oklahoma. She then committed the majority of her life working as an educator. She was employed 22 years at Maysville Public Schools where she taught numerous subjects and grades. After she retired, Joyce found a love and passion for real estate, owning and managing several rental properties. However, her favorite role that she encompassed beautifully was being a Mimi. Joyce loved her grandchildren wholeheartedly.

Joyce’s life was one built on faith and family. She truly embraced life and enjoyed getting to spend time with her loved ones. Joyce was helpful, kind, and caring. She handled difficult situations with ease and poise. Joyce was extremely tough and will always be known for her fight and “can do” attitude.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Dan Meyer, and her husband Larry George Davis.

She is survived by her mother, Joetta Meyer, of Wayne; a son, Andrew Davis, of the home; daughters, Kacy Davis Terrel and her husband, Travis Terrel, of Moore, Oklahoma and Carly Davis Terrell and her husband, Jordan Terrell, of Norman, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tessa Terrel, Ellie Terrel, and Laramie Terrell; brothers, Danny Meyer, of Byars, Oklahoma, Teddy and Terrye Meyer of Wayne, and John Meyer also of Wayne, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved dearly.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Maysville High School Auditorium with Bro. Joe Terrell officiating. Burial followed at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of John W.
