Douglas John Summers made his big entrance into this world on February 24, 1985, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, weighing 10 pounds, 7 ounces. He was born to Judith Kay Sullivan and Douglas Sampson Summers. He was welcomed by his Sissy, Camilla J. Degering and sister, Dawn Summers.
From the time he was born, he shared an unbreakable bond with his Sissy and she rarely went anywhere without him, including dates!
He grew up around Maysville and Lindsay, Oklahoma, attending both schools through the years. He was active in band, football and baseball and Cub Scouts.
As a teenager, Douglas accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Maysville. While attending school in Lindsay, he was also active in the youth group at Erin Springs Baptist Church.
Douglas grew up with the love of his life, Kati Adams, and with that, was blessed with a special daughter, Tynli Adams.
He spent most of his life working in the oilfield. He was a mechanic, a welder, and a truck driver, but he was most passionate as a rat hole driller for Fred’s Rathole, where his co-workers became his brothers. When his nephew, Steven, decided to skip school, Douglas was tasked with teaching him some hard lessons out on the rig!
Douglas was always laughing and joking around. He would do or say anything to get a laugh, or to embarrass you. He didn’t have a filter, and you never knew what he would say or do next. Once, he got covered in mud on location, so he walked into the motel in nothing but his underwear and shoes. He was funny and a hoot to be around.
If he liked you, he would pester you every step of the way. The biggest part of Douglas was his heart. When he loved, he loved hard. He loved his family and his friends without doubt.
After having a stroke, he broke the chains of this earth on Saturday, July 6, 2024, while his Sissy held his hand. He is loved dearly and already so missed.
He is preceded by his mother, Judith Kay Sullivan; sister, Ruth Elizabeth Summers; and brother-in- law, Dustin Degering.
Douglas leaves behind his Nanny, Sandra Martin of Maysville; his father, Doug Summers of Lexington, Oklahoma; his love, Kati Adams of Maysville; daughter, Tynli Adams and a grandchild on the way, of Purcell, Oklahoma; his sisters, Camilla Degering and Barry of Lindsay and Dawn Summers of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; niece, Felecia Summers and great-niece, Shyli of Oklahoma City; nephews, Lane Palmer and wife, Payton and great-niece, Perri of Lindsay, Steven Degering and Dennis Degering of Lindsay; and great-nephew, Kasen Summers of Elmore City, Oklahoma. He also leaves many friends to carry his memories.
Funeral Services were held at Erin Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Ridgeway officiating. Burial followed at Maysville Cemetery in Maysville, Oklahoma, under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at: www.winansfuneralhome.com.
