Carl William Lyon

Carl William Lyon was born September 25, 1940, in Paden, Oklahoma, and went to Heaven on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 84. Carl’s parents were William Roy and Virgie Cordelie (Hames) Lyon. He grew up in Paden and graduated from Paden High School in 1958. Carl worked for the Oklahoma Highway Department, Commander Aircraft, and several car dealerships before beginning a 23-year career as an electrician on the Oklahoma state construction crew. He worked on many projects, including the State Capitol, several hospitals, prisons, DHS offices and other state facilities, often with his long-time friend and co-worker Norman Davis. Carl served in the Oklahoma Air National Guard and attended Christian Life Church in Pauls Valley.

After his retirement in 1999, Carl and his wife, Mary Jane, took several trips around the United States and Canada, visiting every state except Hawaii. They particularly enjoyed their visits to Bar Harbor, Maine; Banff, Canada; and Estes Park, Colorado. Carl loved spending time with his family, smoking hams for his grandchildren, his adopted Kitty cat, and having coffee with his best friend, Robert Ensley.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gene Lyon. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Jane Lyon; daughter Carla Cole and her husband, Terry, of Covington, Georgia; Amber Cash and her husband, Bob, of Shawnee; stepson Chris Lambert and his wife, Wendy, of Oklahoma City. He leaves behind grandchildren Justin Cole and wife Leigh Ann, Ashley Pugh and husband Adam, Brooke Coomes and husband Chris, Robert Cole, Kevin Cash, Hannah Lambert and Brooks Lambert. Carl is also survived by six great-grandchildren, his brother Bob Lyon of Paden, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Christian Life Church in Pauls Valley with Rev. Wendy Lambert, Pastor Neil Barlow and Brooks Lambert officiating.
