Stratford FCCLA Members excel at FCCLA National Leadership Conference

Submitted Two members of the Stratford FCCLA Chapter returned home with national honors in July following the chapter’s trip to attend the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. The local students joined thousands of student leaders from across the nation to compete, develop leadership skills and represent Oklahoma on the national stage.

During the conference Stratford senior Arena Wells received the National title in the STAR event of Food Innovations, and Stratford freshman Tayvin Wells received the National Runner up title in the STAR event of Entrepreneurship.

This year‘s conference brought together more than 10,000 FCCLA members, advisers, and supporters from across the United States for leadership training, national competitive events, networking opportunities, and recognition of outstanding chapters and members.

Oklahoma FCCLA celebrated an outstanding National Leadership Conference, earning several honors, including recognition as the largest state association in the nation while continuing its tradition of excellence, after surpassing 28,000 members. Oklahoma also received a National Membership Increase Award for adding more than 4,000 members during the past year.

Oklahoma FCCLA State Adviser Brittani Phillips was named National State Adviser of the Year, and Oklahoma members earned 14 Top 10 national finishes in FCCLA Challenge Tests.

FCCLA helps students develop leadership, workplace readiness, communication and career skills through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Members have opportunities to compete in STAR Events, participate in community service, explore careers and build leadership skills that prepare them for success after high school.

Stratford FCCLA is already preparing for another exciting year of leadership, service and competition.
