The Garvin County Sheriff’s Office is updating the look of its uniforms.
“We’re really excited to get new uniforms and to have a new professional look that goes with that,” Sheriff Jim Mullett said.
While the update was long overdue, it was also a necessary change because the brown uniform slacks officers have been wearing are being discontinued, according to Mullett.
“We went with a different style of uniforms,” Mullett said. “Just having a new and different look is exciting.”
The new uniforms include black pants and tan shirts. While the shirts are similar in color to the previous shirts, they are made from a more modern, breathable fabric blend. Mullett said he expects them to be more comfortable in hot weather.
The uniforms also include a tie that can be worn for formal or official occasions including court appearances.
The ball caps previously worn by deputies are being replaced with black campaign-style hats. Deputies will also have the option to wear white cowboy hats, and the ball caps may still be worn when officers are on special assignments.
Mullett said his office will be looking at adding new jackets to their attire in the future.
The uniforms were made possible by donations from Simmons Bank, Pauls Valley National Bank, Scott Roberson with Side-by-Side Ranch, Walmart Distribution Center 6042 and First United Bank.
