Stratford comes up short against Healdton

The Stratford Bulldogs played a tough game last Friday night, but three big plays towards the end of the game put Healdton on top for the win.

Stratford scored early in the second quarter on a Nolan Hall two-yard run and Hall executed the twopoint conversion to put Stratford up by one 8-7. Healdton then scored a safety four minutes later to give them the lead. After halftime Healdton scored on three runs of 16, 19 and 40 yards before the end of the third quarter to extend the lead out of Stratford’s reach at 30-8.

In the fourth quarter Austin Perdue made Healdton’s longest run of the game for a touchdown at 45 yards to make the score 37-8.

Stratford got on the board again late into the fourth quarter on a Hall 47-yard run to bring the final score to 37-14.

Nolan Hall ended the night with 156 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Hall threw the ball for another 83 yards on 15 attempts. Hunter Morton had 33 yards rushing and 25 yards receiving. Sean Harian had 31 yards receiving, Skylar Joslin had 15 yards receiving and Braylinn King had 12 yards receiving.

The Stratford defense was led by Morton with 9 tackles. Following close behind was Justin Arriaga with 8 tackles, Hall with 7 tackles, Dayton Goodridge, Blake English and Sean Harian all with 6 tackles each.

The Stratford Bulldogs will look to regroup this week at Dibble as they play the Demons Friday night. The 3-5 Demons are coming off a 43-0 loss to Ringling last week. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
