Charles Ray Morton, age 86, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed from this life Wednesday, September 22, 2021, after a brief illness. Charles was born April 2, 1935, in Antioch, Oklahoma, to Conrad C. and Bessie Cronian Morton.
He was a retired painter and loved working with his cattle and horses, telling jokes and making people laugh in any way he could. Charlie loved his neighbors and his neighborhood and helped out whenever he could.
Charles married Mona Stroud on November 23, 1960, enjoying 48 years of marriage until her death in 2009. God blessed Charles a second time as he fell in love with Joy Meyers and married her on July 25, 2015, enjoying over two years of marriage until her death in 2018.
Charles served as a Staff Sgt. in the US Army from 1953 to 1966.
Charles is survived by his son, Charles Morton and wife, Michelle, of Weatherford, Texas; daughter, Rhonda Eltiste and husband, Michael, of Fate, Texas; grandchildren, Blake Hutchinson and wife, Jessica, Katelyn Morton, Ashlynn Zamora and husband, Tony; great-grandchildren, Adam, Jace, Colt, and Gabrielle; sister, Joyce Phillips of Maysville, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved longhorns, Trump and Freckles; and his grand-dogs, Ruger (partner in crime), Hercules and Wonder.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, C.C. and Bessie Mae; his wives, Mona and Joy; son, James; brothers, Raymond, JB, and James; and sister, Doris.
Visitation was Sunday, September 26, 2021, at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Home Chapel, Weatherford. A graveside funeral service was held Monday, September 27, 2021, at the East Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford, Texas.
