Sammie Lee Smith, of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, was born September 5, 1960, in Lindsay, Oklahoma, to George Hulan Smith and Zula Anne (Shumate) Smith. She passed from this life on Thursday, September 16, 2021, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, at the age of 61 years.
Sammie was a longtime resident of Garvin County, graduating from Maysville High School in 1978. When she was in school, she enjoyed back-roading and listening to music. She attended college for a short time majoring in business. Sammie had worked as a dispatcher for the Lindsay and Noble police departments for many years. She loved her children and grandchildren and was a supporter of them when they played sports or were involved in other activities. Her children always knew when she was in the stands at the games because her voice carried. She was an avid Oklahoma State fan. Sammie never met a stranger and was very loyal to her friends. She loved the beach and taking cousin trips. She was a foodie, an ultimate jokester, and her favorite word was "Supercali fragilisticexpialidocious.” Sa mmie had a dislike for sunflowers and June bugs. She was a fighter and never gave up even with all her health issues. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Maysville. Sammie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Her survivors include her children, William Tivohn “Tanner” Smith and wife, Miranda, of Green River, Wyoming, Alicia Anne Smith Reece and husband, Robert, of Pauls Valley, Samantha “ LaRae” Smith of Pauls Valley, and Chase Brendan Smith and Cassie McCoy of Pauls Valley; grandchildren, William Ty Smith, Maddilyn Juel Smith, Kantyn James Smith, Seth Michael Reece, KayeLee Mae Reece, Zula RheaLynne Foster (Briar Bivins), Kayden Phyllip Scott Cunningham (Emma Grace Shawley), Hulan Tommy Trayce Cunningham, Avery Kelly, Shadie Davis, Kaylie McCoy, Gabriel McCoy, Colbie McCoy, Nixon Cash Smith, Jemma Denae Smith, Austin Jane Hadley Smith, Emma Kelly, Norah Kelly, Nathanial Dale Davis, Hailey Nicole Brand, Tayler Nicole Reames, Billy Lane Reames, and John Reames; great grandchildren, Micah Ryan Bivins, Waylon River Bivins, Alainah Miles, Damian Michael David Davis, and Nancy Naomi Elizabeth Davis.
Sammie was preceded in death by her parents, Hulan and Zula Smith.
Funeral services were held September 22, 2021, at the First Baptist Church, Maysville, with Rev. Jim Paslay officiating. Burial followed in the Florence Chapel Cemetery, Paoli, Oklahoma, under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, Oklahoma.
