The Lindsay High School fastpitch team made history on Friday afternoon at Bronc Jackson Field in the 3A Regional Tournament as they punched their ticket to the 3A State Tournament. The Leopardettes shut out the Lexington Lady Bulldogs 11-0 in front of a raucous crowd and a very enthusiastic student section.

The regional tournament opened up on Thursday when the Leopardettes opened things up with a 10-1 victory over Little Axe, thanks to an outstanding pitching performance from Junior Jadyn Webb, who gave up three hits over 7 innings of work and struck out 12 Lady Indians.

Offensively the Leopardettes were led by Senior Chloe Broussard who was 2 for 4 with 5 RBIs. Later in the evening, the Leopardettes faced off with Lexington and prevailed in an 8 to 3 game. Freshman Riese Flood got the win in another great pitching performance, striking out 13 batters in 7 innings. Offensively Junior Kailyn Taylor was 3 for 4 in the game with 2 RBIs and scored 3 runs. Sophomore Lili Dodson also contributed 2 RBIs and had 2 hits.

All of the Leopardette’s hard work culminated with the Lexington Lady Bulldogs in a rematch early Friday afternoon for the Regional Championship. Junior Maklain Stinnett got things started in the first inning to give the Leopardettes their first base runner, which was later driven in for the first run of the game. Riese Flood got another victory in the circle, striking out 11 batters over 7 innings.

Several Leopardettes contributed offensively with standout performances again from Kailyn Taylor who scored 3 runs and Lili Dodson who scored 3 runs and had 5 RBIs, including a walk-off in the park grand slam that resulted in the team mobbing each other just to the side of home plate to celebrate their Regional Championship.

The Leopardettes will play Haskell in the 3A State Tournament on Thursday, Oct. 6, at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City at 1:30 p.m.
