In the story of Moses when God was using Moses to lead His people out of Egypt to the land of Canaan, aka the promised land, God made himself obvious to the people so they would know that He was with them.
Fire by day and cloud by night in the desert, manna on the ground every morning except on the Sabbath, making water appear from rock, splitting the Red Sea for them to cross on dry land to escape the Egyptians, not to mention the plagues and killing of the first born males in all of Egypt.
God made His presence known for sure, but when they made it to the land of Canaan and God was ready for them to take it, Moses sent out 12 spies to check the land and all the spies except Caleb and Joshua came back saying there was no way they could take the land over because the people were giants, and so because of their doubt, God caused that whole generation to wander in the desert for 40 years and never enter into that promised land, except for Caleb and Joshua. So, after 40 years was up, spies went back into the land.
When the people of Canaan found out that spies were seen in the area, the search was on for them. But the spies hid out in the house of Rahab, a prostitute in the town, and while she was hiding them she said something very interesting to them. She said that years ago when the Hebrews were coming to take over their land, there was fear all over the land because they knew God was with the Hebrew people and they would be defeated.
I want to focus on that, because to me that shows a God who goes before His people and prepares a way for them. Notice God set up the blessing, but because the people lacked in trusting God it didn’t happen when it could have.
Brothers and Sisters, I hope we can all understand that even though this is a story that took place thousands of years ago, that same God has proven Himself to us still today by allowing the sacrifice of His only son Jesus Christ for remission of our sins. He has prepared a way for us to be with Him forever if we would just accept His son into our hearts. And not just that, but that he still fights our battles and goes before us to prepare a way of victory. Always trust that God is with you and trying to help you. Never feel like He has abandoned you. You are a beloved child of God and He adores you. Just have faith in Him!
May God continue to bless you all.
