For many Oklahoma families, access to quality health care is one of the most important issues we face. Whether it’s finding a family doctor close to home, receiving emergency care after an accident or helping a loved one navigate a serious illness, Oklahomans deserve a health care system that puts patients first.
That is exactly what House Republicans worked to accomplish during the First Session of the 60th Oklahoma Legislature.
We focused on practical, conservative solutions that strengthen our health care system without growing government. We worked to expand access to care, improve transparency and give patients and families greater confidence in the decisions affecting their health.
House Bills 2784 and 2793 work together to support Oklahoma State University’s Level I Trauma Center by creating an Emergency Medicine Revolving Fund and providing an $8 million investment through the Progressing Rural Economic Prosperity Fund. These measures help to make sure more Oklahomans, especially rural Oklahomans, have access to life-saving trauma care while supporting the education and training of future emergency physicians.
House Bill 2050 creates a pathway for qualified international medical graduates to become licensed in Oklahoma, allowing more highly trained physicians to care for patients while helping address workforce shortages across our state.
This creates opportunities for physicians to live and practice in rural communities like ours.
We also passed Senate Bill 1067 to increase transparency in how ambulance service rates are established. By creating a formal review process and requiring findings to be reported to the Legislature, we can better ensure accountability while maintaining reliable emergency medical services for our communities.
Patients deserve to understand both their rights and their responsibilities when receiving medical care. House Bill 1600, the Lori Brand Patient Bill of Rights Act of 2025, clearly outlines those rights for patients, guardians and their representatives, providing greater transparency throughout the health care process.
Senate Bill 1019 protects that principle by preventing insurers from limiting anesthesia coverage based on arbitrary procedure time limits.
Senate Bill 56 allows qualified family members, under the supervision of a registered nurse and pending federal approval, to provide Medicaid-funded care for eligible relatives. This gives families greater flexibility while allowing loved ones to receive care from those they know and trust.
House Bill 1389 expands insurance coverage for additional breast cancer screening technologies that can help detect cancer earlier and improve patient outcomes.
House Bill 2048 establishes the 340B Nondiscrimination Act, helping ensure safety-net providers are treated fairly by insurers so they can continue delivering care to patients who rely on them.
I was proud to help advance these measures that reflect those conservative principles while addressing real challenges facing Oklahoma families.
