John Layton entered into eternal life October 7, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 53. He was born on October 9, 1972, in Madison, Indiana.
As those who loved him now commend him to the Lord’s eternal care, they give thanks for a life centered on faith, love and the blessing of family.
John was a graduate of Maysville High School and worked as a rig operator. He was a man whose greatest joy was found not in possessions or pursuits, but in people. He enjoyed fishing, even if patience did not always come easily, and that quality only added to the familiar, genuine spirit so many knew and loved. There was no particular job or hobby that defined him above all else, because what John truly loved was meeting people, knowing them and sharing life with them. John had a great sense of humor, and he loved to make people laugh. He also loved his church and his church family, and that devotion was an important part of who he was.
Among John’s proudest earthly blessings were his family. On May 14, 2005, he married Kimberly, the love of his life, and from that day forward the two were inseparable. Their marriage was a beautiful testimony of companionship, commitment and deep affection. His family was his proudest accomplishment, and those closest to him will remember the way he cherished them.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly Layton. He also leaves behind his sons, Braidon Layton of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Justin Creswell of Liberty, Missouri, and his daughter, Brooklynn House of Springfield, Missouri. He was further blessed with the joy of grandchildren, Oakley Creswell, Forrest Creswell and Emerson House, each of whom added light to his life. John is also survived by his mother, Wilda Holt, and by his sisters, Rhonda Layton of Elmore City, Oklahoma, and Teresa Kennedy of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. May those who remain find comfort in the love he gave so freely, in the memories they hold so dearly and in the promise of God’s abiding presence in the days ahead.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Layton Jr., and by his brother, George Layton III.
As family and friends mourn his passing, they also celebrate the life John lived and the faith that sustained him. May the Lord grant rest unto him and peace unto all who knew and loved him, trusting in the hope of resurrection and the joy of eternal reunion.
