On the Road to Emmaus

In Luke 24:13-35 we find the story of two men walking on the Road to Emmaus, and as these men were walking with their heads down because of what they had just witnessed in Jerusalem a man came upon them and started walking with them.

The man asked why they were so sad. They couldn’t believe he hadn’t heard of all that had just taken place in Jerusalem the last few days and proceeded to tell him about how they thought they had found their Messiah but now he was crucified and to top that off his body had been stolen. Little did they know the man they were walking with was Jesus himself.

Jesus started getting on to the men for not realizing the scripture or prophecy claims that the Messiah would die and be raised from the dead in three days. The two men finally reached their destination and asked this man to stay with them. Jesus finally agrees and as they sit down to eat, Jesus breaks break and blesses it. At that moment the men realize this man is Jesus, and at that moment Jesus disappears.

I love that at this point in the story the men start talking about how, as they were talking to Jesus on the road, he warmed their heart with his presence. I want to remind you all that when you feel your world is falling apart, and maybe the things that you have been trusting in seem to be falling apart, remember that Jesus is with you. Invite him to walk with you in your life. He will warm your heart and make your walk a lot more bearable. Never forget, Christ is not dead. He is not in a secret hidden tomb somewhere. He is alive and wants to live in you.

God bless you all.
