1 Detained, 1 Injured

A shooting at Pauls Valley High School Tuesday has left one person injured and one person detained, authorities have confirmed.
Principal Kirk Moore was confirmed by the Garvin County Sheriff's Department as injured in the leg. He was transported by medical helicopter and is currently listed in stable condition.
The person detained was confirmed to be a 20-year-old former student named Victor Hawkins. According to OSBI, Hawkins was booked on two counts of pointing a firearm, one count of shooting with intent to kill and two counts of unlawful carry.
According to law enforcement, the suspect entered the front lobby of the high school. Moore then tackled the suspect and was shot while he and other school staff subdued the assailant.
Further investigation of the shooting has been handed over to Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation.
The high school has been cleared, all students are safe, and parents have been notified to reunite with their students at the high school gym.
Parents are also able to pick up their children from the elementary, intermediate and junior high schools. Students returning from Mid-America Technology Center went to the gym to be picked up, as that bus returned after the building was cleared.
According to Superintendent Dr. Brett Knight, school has been cancelled for tomorrow, April 8, district-wide.
"This is every superintendent's worse nightmare," Knight said.
Counseling will be available for those who need it. Support for students and staff will be available at Pauls Valley Elementary beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday. If a student needs a ride to the elementary, they can contact the district at (405) 238-2312 after 7:30 a.m.to make arrangements.
The elementary (5th and 6th grade) track meet scheduled for Wednesday at Paul Valley has also been canceled.
Paoli Public Schools also went into lockdown while things were occurring but have since given the all clear.
