Mason Barahona (32-3) advanced to the 4A Wrestling State Championships after placing fifth in the 190 division of the West Regional.
The State Championship Meet began on Thursday (after press time). Barahona competed in the wrestle-in match against Tyler Murray of Jay, who placed fourth in the East Regional. The winner will wrestle Shawn Rounsaville of Tuttle, who placed first in the West Regional, on Friday.
At the West Regional Meet, Barahona placed fifth after winning a 8-7 decision against Brock Day (20-13) of Harrah.
As a team, Pauls Valley placed ninth out of 18 schools with 69 points.
Several Panthers placed sixth in their respective divisions: Cooper McCone (106), Josh Lewis (144), Will Harris (150) and Cody McLaughlin (165).
