Basketball playoff assignments announced for Classes A-B2

OSSAA announced playoff assignments for Classes A-B2 on Saturday during a Facebook Live special.

“Everyone is 0-0. Every team gets a chance,” OSSAA Assistant Director Brian Lester.

During the livestream, Lester explained some of the criteria for the assignments, including keeping boys and girls teams from each school together, separating the top 4 ranked teams into separate areas, separating teams 5 through 8 into separate areas and having no more than six ranked teams in an area.

In addition to the new selection show, this will be the first playoff road that ends in the new OG&E Arena.

Three local districts were among the games announced Saturday.

“I’m excited about our playoff assignment and the opportunity ahead,” said Maysville girls head coach Jordan Meija. “This group has the potential to make a deep playoff run.”

Maysville girls (11-5) are ending the season ranked #15 in Class B2.

Both Maysville teams will play in Area II, District 5 against Calvin.

The Lady Bulldogs have a record of 1-16, which includes a 45-10 loss to Paoli, who the Lady Warriors beat 43-14.

The Bulldogs are ranked #20 with a record of 12-6. They beat Paoli 66-32 this season, while the Warriors lost to the Pugs 35-28.

Paoli, assigned to Class B2 Area I, District 5, will play their District game and the first game of Regional in Chattanooga. The Pugs have no common opponents this season with Chattanooga. The Lady Warriors are ranked #7 with a record of 15-5. The Warriors are ranked #7 with a record of 19-1.

For Regional, Paoli will play the corresponding team from the Blair vs Cement District game.
