Edna Earl (Farmer) Sharp was born July 19, 1930, in Malakoff, Texas, to William Preston Farmer and Nettie Josephine (Carroll) Farmer. She passed from this life June 18, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 94. She grew up near Kilgore, Texas, graduating from Leverett’s Chapel in 1948. On July 31, 1948, she married David Allen Sharp and soon after marriage they moved to Maysville, Oklahoma, where David worked for Warren Petroleum. They lived in Maysville for 23 years and raised two sons, George Allen Sharp and Mark Stephen Sharp. In late 1970, they moved to Norman as Edna was working for the University of Oklahoma. They also lived for a short time in Slaughterville before moving back to Chandler, Texas, to enjoy retirement living on Lake Palestine.
Edna always enjoyed her family and especially liked playing piano and organ, fishing and playing cards and dominoes with family and friends. She also enjoyed being with her grandson, Jeffrey Scott Sharp. She and David also enjoyed traveling.
Edna is survived by son Mark and Judy of Norman, grandson Jeffrey and Emily, great-grandchildren Jonathan and Julia, sister Margaret Council, brother Thomas Burton (Sonny) Farmer, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David; son George; parents, William (Bill) and Nettie (Jo); brother James; and sisters Billie Sharp and Naomi Goletz.
She will be laid to rest in Friendship Cemetery near Gladewater, Texas, beside David and George. Services for cremation are under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma.
