Two fatalities in head-on collision north of Pauls Valley

A head-on collision claimed the lives of two people, including a 15-year-old girl, near Pauls Valley Friday night. 

The collision happened just before 10 p.m. Friday, three-quarters of a mile north of Pauls Valley on US-77. 

According to a preliminary report from Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 2023 Toyota Corolla, driven by William Miranda, 29, of Pauls Valley, was traveling southbound when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2012 Ford Fusion driven by Christopher Pierri, 39, of Oklahoma City, head on. 

Both drivers were pinned in their vehicles and had to be extricated by the Pauls Valley Fire Department. Miranda was transported by medical helicopter to an Oklahoma City hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.

Pierri died at the scene.

A 15-year-old female passenger in Pierri’s vehicle was also pronounced dead at the scene. 

Two other passengers in Pierri’s vehicle, both 14-year-old girls, were injured in the collision. Both were transported by ambulance to an Oklahoma City hospital where one was admitted in good condition with head and leg injuries and the other was admitted in serious condition with leg and internal trunk injuries. 

All three juveniles were from Paoli, according to the initial OHP incident report.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
