Three people were injured in an explosion at an Enerfin Resources pipeline yard west of Maysville Wednesday morning.
Brent Warton, Director of Midstream Operations for Enerfin Resources, said three employees were conducting normal operational activities at the pipline yard around 9 a.m. Wednesday when a flash explosion occurred.
All three sustained burns and were flown by medical helicopter to Oklahoma City hospitals. No information was immediately available on the names of the employees or their condition, but Warton said he understood that all three were communicating with medical personnel.
“At this point, we don’t really know what happened,” Warton said. “We’ll be conducting an investigation to find out what caused it.”
He said that investigation should take two to three days to complete. The three injured employees were the only ones at the site at the time of the explosion.
A fire resulting from the explosion burned brush, grass and two vehicles in the immediate vicinity. A trailer home on property adjacent to the pipeline yard also caught fire, according to Garvin County Emergency Management David Johnson, who said no one was injured in the trailer fire.
“Officials from Enerfin were on scene quickly to secure the valves and really did an outstanding job,” Johnson said.
Fire departments from Maysville, Lindsay, Rush Creek and Elmore City responded to the call. Wadley’s EMS (Maysville) and Lindsay EMS were also on scene, as was the Garvin County Sheriff’s Office and Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
