Oklahoma Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of a head-on collision south of Stratford that claimed the life of a Davis man and injured four others Thursday.
The collision happened about 1:45 p.m. Thursday, one mile south of Stratford on U.S. Highway 177.
A 2015 Hyundai Elantra driven by 25-year-old Naga T. Gottigundala of Irving, Texas, collided with a 2007 Dodge Nitro driven by 53-year-old Jimmy J. McGill of Davis, according to information released by OHP Friday.
Both drivers were pinned in their vehicles, as was a passenger in Gottigundala's vehicle, Sethu K. Pudi, 24, of Irving.
U.S. 177 was closed in both directions for nearly an hour and a half as emergency crews worked the accident.
Two other passengers in Gottigundala's vehicle, Thodakura Harsha, 24, and Sainath Nandyala, 23, both of Irving, were also injured.
All five men were transported by ambulance to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, according to OHP.
McGill was pronounced dead at the hospital due to massive injuries sustained in the collision.
Gottigundala was admitted in critical but stable condition with trunk internal, leg and arm injuries.
Pudi was admitted in critical but stable condition with trunk internal injuries.
Harsha was admitted in serious condition with leg injuries, and Nandyala was treated and released with a head injury.
Conditions were rainy and the road was wet at the time of the accident, and seatbelts were in use by all but one passenger, according to OHP.
The accident is being investigated by OHP Troopers with the Garvin/Murray County Detachment of Troop F, with the assistance of Troopers from Troop V and Troop S. OHP was assisted at the scene by Stratford Police Department, Stratford Fire Department, Pauls Valley Fire Department, Stratford EMS, Wadley's EMS, Murray County EMS and Wynnewood EMS.
