FORT WORTH – Grayson Kuehny of Elmore City, riding horse Draggin A Hawk, recently won the National Cutting Horse Association’s $50,000 Amateur World Championship at the 2022 NCHA World Finals presented by Dual Smart Rey in Fort Worth, Texas.
Draggin A Hawk is a 12-year-old gelding owned by Brent and Sheri Kuehny of Elmore City.
In the first round, the pair marked a 218.5 to earn a fourth-place finish. They came back in the second round and marked an impressive 227.5 to win the round. The pair ended the finals with a total of $68,239.72 in earnings and a world championship. Kuehny also was crowned the NCHA Weekend Rookie of the Year, as well as the show champion.
“He’s a dream horse,” Grayson said of Draggin A Hawk in an interview following their championship run. “Every weekend, it’s been one horse, one goal. He’s been there for me every single time. He’s been happy, he’s been healthy. It’s been a dream year, and I’m very blessed.”
The 2022 NCHA World Finals presented by Dual Smart Rey was held in the Watt Arena at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, from November 26-27 and November 30 through December 3.
