An Elmore City woman was struck by a car and killed while walking on State Highway 29 just west of Elmore City Monday night.
Lamanda C. Moore, 43, was walking east in the eastbound lane of Highway 29 around 9:30 p.m. Monday, when she was struck by a 2011 Ford Fusion also traveling eastbound. According to an accident report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the driver of the vehicle was able to come to a controlled stop after striking Moore.
Moore was pronounced dead at the scene by Elmore City EMS.
OHP’s report lists the cause of the collision as “pedestrian action.”
The accident is the second automobile-pedestrian accident on a local highway in recent weeks. Jamie Akerman, 43, of Maysville, died July 23, after she was struck by a vehicle on State Highway 74 south of Maysville.
