Drennan, Inman, Barker and Roe elected to Lindsay City Council

Hunt and Balentine win school board elections

Lindsay’s City Council will be welcoming Bart Drennan, Tom Inman, Bev Barker and Vern Roe to fill four open seats on the council, according to unofficial election results released by the Garvin County Election Board Tuesday evening.

In the race to fill three, two-year positions on the Lindsay City Council Drennan drew the most votes at 242, just over 25% of the votes cast. Inman received 228 votes, nearly 24% of the votes cast, and Barker came in at 177 votes, for over 18% of the votes cast.

Sitting council member Greg Henderson appears to have narrowly lost his council seat, coming in fourth with 148 votes, or just over 15% of the votes cast.

Steve Staggs received 65 votes, Shanda Hernandez received 60 votes and Stephanie Palmer received 36 votes.

A one-year unexpired term on Lindsay’s City Council will be filled by Vern Roe, who received 164 votes, nearly 50% of the votes cast in that race. Amy

Elledge received 87 votes, Angel Wilbourn received 52 votes and Billy R. Nye Jr. received 27 votes.

In the Whitebead Board of Education election Tuesday, Belinda K. Hunt defeated incumbent school board member Jess Patton. Hunt received 110 votes, nearly 83% of votes cast, while Patton pulled in 23 votes.

Elmore City-Pernell Board of Education member Brent L. Balentine kept his seat on the board in Tuesday’s election, defeating challenger Carl Stevens. Balentine received almost 88% of the votes in that race, with 220 votes, while Stevens received 31, just over 12% of the votes cast.

Tuesday’s election results are not official until certified by the Garvin County Election Board. Unless a contest of election or a petition for recount is filed, results will be certified after 5 p.m. Friday, April 8.
