Lindsay XC opens season at Blanchard Meet

Lindsay cross country began their season at the Ninth Annual Blanchard Burner Meet, held at the Middleberg course.

“Overall, I thought it was a pretty good day for our first meet of the year,” Coach Lance Osburn said. “We had a lot of first-time runners, and I was proud of everyone’s effort.”

The high school girls team placed fifth. Kylee Byrum led the Leopardettes, placing 29th with a time of 18:24.5. Gracey Bray, Kadsley Yandell, Mylah Stephens and Tenley Jarman finished within a minute of each other, placing 35th, 36th, 39th and 44th, respectively.

On the boys side, Miguel Flores placed 38th, and Miguel Fernandez placed 45th.

The middle school girls also placed fifth as a team. Ava Somers and Alexiah Martin led the pack, finishing 13th and 14th, respectively. Somers finished in 11:33.2, while Martin finished in 11:45.09. Ava Collett finished 39th, Landri Cooper finished 57th and Kambry Yandell finished 69th.

The middle school boys team placed third behind Blanchard and Bridge Creek. The Leopards were led by David Ponce, who placed fifth with a time of 12:33.56, and Kash Potts, who placed sixth at 12:54.18. Leo Loya placed ninth at 13:07.8, and Ryker Dodson placed 15th at 13:32.78. Jhett Hailey placed 34th, Rilyn Moore placed 53rd, Jonah Thomas placed 59th, William Perez placed 67th, Jack Bray placed 92nd and Lincoln Pigg placed 117th.

“Competition-wise, Blanchard is one of the tougher meets we attend, and our kids held their own today,” Osburn said. “We’ll just get better as the year goes on.”
