WAYNE, OK — MidAmerica Technology Center is celebrating three staff members who recently earned distinguished honors and leadership positions within state and regional CareerTech organizations.
Dr. Amanda Cummings, Program Director, was elected President-Elect of the Oklahoma Association for Career and Technical Education (OKACTE); Cody Barton, Small Business Coordinator for Professional Resource Outreach (PRO), was elected Vice President-Elect of the Professional Association of Career Educators (PACE); and Ms. Sharolyn Bonner, Cosmetology Teacher was named the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) Region IV Teacher Educator of the Year.
As President-Elect of OKACTE, Cummings will serve in a leadership role supporting the advancement of career and technical education across Oklahoma. Her election reflects a commitment to educational excellence, student achievement, and professional leadership within the CareerTech system.
Barton‘s election as Vice President-Elect of PACE highlights his dedication to workforce development, professional education, and community engagement. Through his work with MidAmerica‘s Professional Resource Outreach division, he helps connect businesses, employees, and lifelong learners with training opportunities that strengthen Oklahoma‘s workforce.
Bonner earned regional recognition as ACTE Region IV Teacher Educator of the Year, one of the highest honors for career and technical educators. ACTE Region IV includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Selected from among regional finalists, Bonner was recognized for her leadership, innovation in the classroom, and dedication to student success. She will advance to the national level of competition and be recognized at ACTE‘s CareerTech VISION 2026 Conference in New Orleans.
