Tax Comission releases May sales, use tax distribution report

Sales tax collections were up in March for Elmore City, Pauls Valley, Stratford and Wynnewood compared to the same period last year, according to the May distribution of sales tax collections report from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. Garvin County also saw a slight increase over 2025.

Foster, Lindsay, Maysville and Paoli all saw a dip in sales tax collections compared to the same period in 2025.

Use tax collections were largely up for Garvin County communities in March, with only Foster and Wynnewood showing a decrease over the same period last year.

According to the Tax Commission, the disbursement of $214,325,404 in sales tax collections returned to cities and towns statewide reflected an increase of $7,585,644 from the $206,739,760 distributed to them in May last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $44,694,045.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $37,991,080 sales tax disbursement and $9,810,963 in use tax disbursements.

The May 8, 2026, distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from March business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from March 16-31 and estimated sales from April 1-15.
