Garvin County youth showcase skills in 4-H Consumer Decision Making and Skill-a-Thon Contest

Garvin County 4-H members tested their knowledge and decision-making skills during the annual Consumer Decision Making and Skilla-Thon competition held March 4.

Youth competed in junior and senior divisions, demonstrating their ability to evaluate products, compare options and make informed consumer choices.

In the Senior Division, Cooper McKinzie of the Wynnewood 4-H Club earned Grand Champion honors. Kelsey Thompson of the Maysville 4-H Club was named Reserve Grand Champion.

Other senior division awards included Kally Milligan, Pauls Valley 4-H Club, who placed third; Stonie Carroll, Lindsay 4-H Club, in fourth place; Jess Collier, Wynnewood 4-H Club, in fifth place; and Alana Carroll, Lindsay 4-H Club, in sixth place. Tinley Milligan, Pauls Valley 4-H Club, also competed in the senior division.

In the Junior Division, Alice Babcock of the Pauls Valley 4-H Club captured Grand Champion honors, while first-time contestant Cade Selman, also of the Pauls Valley 4-H Club, was named Reserve Grand Champion.

Rounding out the junior division placings were Henry Sparks, Pauls Valley 4-H Club, in third; Chloe Jones, Elmore City–Pernell 4-H Club, in fourth; Hazen Carroll, Lindsay 4-H Club, in fifth; and Parker Zamarron, Pauls Valley 4-H Club, in sixth. Additional participants included Addisyn Lorris, Elmore City–Pernell 4-H Club, and Jaxson Thompson, Maysville 4-H Club.

There were also two Cloverbud competitors that received a certificate and a special ribbon: Roree Jones of Elmore City and Perri Sparks of Pauls Valley.

The Consumer Decision Making and Skill-a-Thon contest helps 4-H members develop valuable life skills by teaching them how to analyze information, compare products and make smart consumer choices. These skills prepare youth to become informed and responsible consumers in their everyday lives.
