Choral society to host Christmas Tour of Homes

Area residents are invited to get in the holiday spirit with a Christmas Tour of Homes sponsored by the Garvin County Choral Society and Sinfonietta. The tour is Sunday, Dec. 3, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and features five Pauls Valley homes and two public locations decked out in Christmas finery for visitors to enjoy.

The tour is a fundraiser for the Choral Society and Sinfonietta.

“It’s just a fun way to get our name out there and build community as people get out and visit these homes decorated for the holidays,” tour organizer and GCCSS board member Allison Dunham said.

Locations on the tour may be visited in any order and refreshments will be served at the Santa Fe Depot, 204 S. Santa Fe St.

Advance tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the Pauls Valley Chamber of Commerce during regular business hours or online at GarvinCountysings.com. Tickets will be available the day of the tour for $25. Dayof tickets may be purchased online, or at the Santa Fe Depot.

Homes on the tour include:

The White Home, 110 S. Oak St.

Originally owned by the Field family, this home was built in 1946. Various members of the Field family lived there until the property was purchased by the Whites in 2020. They had a distinct vision of how the property could evolve next. Still, most of the interior is unchanged. Come see how they fitted it for Christmas.

The Agee Home, 400 N. Pine St.

This beautiful home was built in 1950. You’ll walk through tall white columns to enter. The holiday décor includes many favorites and meaningful mementos from the family’s history.

The Richey Home, 628 N. Walnut St.

This home was built in 1905 and received its most recent renovation when the Richeys moved there in the last few years. You’ll love the oversized Christmas yard-art as well as the wonderful surprises inside.

The Freeman Home, 812 N. Willow St.

This grand ol’ lady is better known as “the Yellow House.” The Freeman home is a bungalow style abode built some 100 years ago. Guests will enjoy the Victorian feel of the Christmas decoration and furnishings while strolling along original hardwood floors. Various collections will be on display, including Santa mugs and angel figurines. The family dog, Ellie Mae, will also be “decorated.”

The Nolen Home, 804 N. Willow St.

There are plenty of delights at this home. Originally built in 1931, it has had three major remodels, each increasing the size of the home. Decorated in shimmery blues, silvers and whites, you’ll see a mix of Christmas contemporary with a “need to be Southern” thrown in. This stop will also feature several local artist pieces on display, as well as a few interesting documents dating to the early 1900s. The adjacent guest house will also be open and will have vintage holiday items displayed.

First United Methodist Church, 401 N. Willow St.

This “home” to many faithful congregants welcomes everyone to view the newly completed fellowship hall. The history of the church dates back to 1893, and the new addition takes the place of the second sanctuary, built in 1921 and demolished earlier this year. Some of the original stainedglass windows from the first building will be on display.

The Santa Fe Depot, 204 S. Santa Fe St.

Built in 1905, this historic transportation center is now a wonderful local history museum. Visitors can view antique decorations, enjoy refreshments, or purchase tour tickets at this stop.
