I had the great honor and privilege to marry two young adults this last Wednesday, and it gets me excited to think of how if they stay true to their vows to God and each other then they are on their way to having a great life with each other.
The Bible talks about how the true believers in Christ will be His bride and be with Him forever. There is scripture in the Bible with the phrase “what God has joined together, let no man put asunder,” found in Mark 10:9 and Matthew 19:6. The verses emphasize the sanctity of marriage and the importance of not separating a couple that God has united. The teaching is rooted in the concept of marriage as a divine institution, indicating that it is not meant to be dissolved by human will or decision. That same concept that the Bible gives us for marriage is the same one with Christ and His bride.
Matthew 25:1-12 says: 1 At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
6 At midnight the cry rang out: “Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!”
7 Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, “Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.”
9 “No,” they replied, “there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.”
10 But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
11 Later the others also came. “Lord, Lord,” they said, “open the door for us!”
12 But he replied, “Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.”
The Bible makes it clear that of those who are wanting to be the bride of Christ only some are truly ready. It is, in my opinion, the time to get ready for the groom (Jesus) to come. Brothers and sisters please get your life and relationship with Christ in order and make sure you are ready for Him. He is truly coming soon. Remember marriage in God’s eyes is forever and with Christ is where you will want to spend eternity. Be ready.
