Stratford’s Lincoln Hall is healthy and looking to make a mark in Class A this year.
Hall spent the off season working on his shoulder and getting stronger after surgery last fall.
Hall opened the game against Wayne Sept. 5 with a two-yard rush to get the attention of the Bulldog defense. On the next play, Hall handed the ball to running back Joseph Smith who took it for a 64-yard touchdown run. Once Smith hit the secondary, no one could catch up at all.
Wayne tried to get the ball moving on their first possession but the Stratford defense would not allow any yards to be gained. This would be the trend for the night with the Wayne Bulldogs. Wayne managed 139 yards on 45 carries for the night. The Stratford defense was lead by Keyln Dickerson with 13 tackles, Gavin Green had 12 tackles, Braxton Murray had eight tackles, Lincoln Hall had six tackles and two interceptions, Joseph Smith had six tackles, and Karsen Nail had five tackles and a sack.
The Stratford offense was just hitting their stride after the Smith touchdown.
Later in the first quarter, Hall placed a beautiful pass to the waiting hands of receiver Dax Ross for a 79-yard touchdown. Hall, not wanting to be left out, took the ball for a 44-yard run for a touchdown on the third series of the game to make the halftime score 21-0.
The last Stratford score of the night was another Smith jaunt for a 45-yard touchdown for the final score of 28-0.
The Stratford offense was lead by Lincoln Hall with 142 yards rushing on 13 carries and one touchdown, Joseph Smith 131 yards rushing on 14 carries and two touchdowns, Mahon Bear 17 yards rushing on three carries. Hall was 1 of 3 passing for 79 yards, Dax Ross had one catch for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Mistakes plagued both teams with penalties and turnovers. Wayne had six penalties for 40 yards and Stratford had 13 penalties for 110 yards.
Stratford will travel to Allen tonight (Sept. 12) for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
