Powerlifters compete at State Meet

The Oklahoma Powerlifting Coaches Association hosted the State Meet March 12-14 in El Reno.

Small High Schools

Wynnewood won the Class A Powerlifting Championship.

123 weight division: Fourth place - Caleb Dixon, Wynnewood, second-highest squat at 360. Fifth place - Caleb Yarbrough, Vanoss, fourth-highest squat at 335 and fourth-highest deadlift at 385. Seventh place - Todd Gonzalez, Elmore City-Pernell.

145 weight division: Second place - Marques Williams, Wynnewood, second-highest deadlift at 450, third-highest squat at 405 and fifth-highest bench at 245.

157 weight division: Second place - Luke Stevenson, Wynnewood, highest squat at 445 and fourth-highest deadlift at 450. Seventh place - Cutter Condit, Elmore City-Pernell. Phoenix Sparks, Wynnewood, fourth-highest squat at 415.

168 weight division: Fifth place - Aydrian Knighten, Wynnewood, third-highest squat 440.

181 weight division: First place - Briar Davenport, Wynnewood, 1,420 total, highest squat at 560, second-highest bench at 310 and third-highest deadlift at 550.

220 weight division: Ninth place - Preston Gaither, Wynnewood.

242 weight division: Third place - Adrian Hernandez, Wynnewood, highest squat at 565. Tenth place - Sylas Harrell, Elmore City-Pernell, fifth-highest deadlift at 520. Nokosi Harjo, Vanoss, third-highest deadlift at 550.

275 weight division: Tenth place - Evan Blankenship, Wynnewood, third-highest squat at 575.

Other state qualifiers included:

Paoli: Tyler Collins. 

Wynnewood: Preston Sechrist, Kaden Bourland, Cobey Williamson, Cole Hildreth, William Manning and Jaien Fields.

Ninth-grade Small Schools 

Wynnewood also won the ninth-grade small schools state championship.

132 weight division: Eighth place - Colt Nabors, fourth-highest squat.

157 weight division: Sixth place - Holden Phillips-Dixon, third-highest squat.

181 weight division: Second place - Trae Williams, highest squat and fifth-highest deadlift.

198 weight division: Second place - Gregory Knighten, highest bench, second-highest squat and fourth-highest deadlift.

275 weight division: Ninth place - Treydon Stewart, fifth-highest deadlift. Tenth place - Arturo Rodriguez.

Large High Schools

Pauls Valley high school powerlifting team placed Class 3A Runner-up while competing among the Large Schools at the State Meet.

132 weight class: Second place - Jarett Norman, highest squat at 385 and second- highest bench at 215.

181 weight division: Marshall Edwards, second-highest bench at 300.

Heavyweight division: First place - James Fields, highest squat at 665, highest deadlift at 710 and third-highest bench at 340.

Other state competitors were Brecken Wicks, Kolton Morrison, Lincoln Albertson and Elijah Olguin.

Ninth-graders who competed included Zane Wright and Avery Wicks.

Eighth-grade Lifters 

In the 181 weight division, Brock Parks of Elmore City-Pernell placed fifth and had the fourth-highest squat. Gianni Ramirez of Elmore City-Pernell placed seventh.

Cannon Johnson of Elmore City-Pernell placed fourth in the 220 weight class, lifting the highest deadlift and the fourth-highest squat.

Blake Childress of Elmore City-Pernell placed eighth.

State competitors included Todd Ward of Stratford, Abram Ezzell of Elmore City-Pernell and Ethan Ward of Stratford.

Seventh-grade Lifters 

Jonathan Walker of Elmore City-Pernell placed second in the 105 weight division, with the highest deadlift, fourth-highest squat and fifth-highest bench.
