Mason Barahona signed to join the Murray State College Aggies in their second season of wrestling.
“It feels new, but also like we’ve been a family forever,” Barahona said. “All those guys are really trusting the process and trusting Coach Mayfield. We’re going to be a strong team.”
The two-time State-qualifier from Pauls Valley made three visits to the MSC campus, including a practice with the wrestling team.
“They were pushing me to be better,” Barahona said. “I want to get better myself, so being around a group of guys who want to work together to do that is something special.”
Murray State competed in its first wrestling season in 2025-26. Barahona will join the Aggies for their second season.
“We’re excited to have him,” said MSC Coach Paul Mayfield. “I believe in his work ethic and look forward to getting him on campus to see what he can do.”
Barahona plans to study business finance in preparation for one day having a real estate license.
“I think he’s going to thrive in that environment both academically and athletically,” said his sister Katie Barahona. “We expect big things.”
