A walk in the garden

There is a place in the Bible that really hits my spirit with excitement, anticipation, and even longing, but not so long ago it actually brought a little sadness in my heart. For me, in Genesis 3:8 it gives the impression that God himself would walk and talk with Adam and Eve in the garden, and like I said that gives me excitement, anticipation, and even longing, because I am so ready for the day when I may be able to have that experience as well. Man, could you even imagine what that might be like?

But it hit me not so long ago, that I was wondering why I couldn’t have that kind of experience here and now with God. I truly went to the Lord in prayer with a sad heart and asked why I couldn’t have a moment like that, and God definitely spoke to my spirit and said, “You can if you will give Me more of your time.” And it truly hit me that I do stay busy living life day to day, and most of my day is filled with Him; Christian music while doing my carpentry work, quick prayers of thanks and even prayers for others, doing church events, and time with my wife in the evenings, but I don’t take the time that I need to start walking in the garden with Him myself.

I have always wanted to walk in the garden with God and the truth is I can. He has made it clear to me that He will meet me there if I will just come to the garden myself. For me, walking in the garden with God means conversation with God Himself, and that comes by truly reading His word and allowing it to be absorbed into my spirit. Allowing time in my day to just chill out and slow down life and completely give a moment of our day to Him. Don’t just talk but listen, maybe even sing songs of worship to Him. Just give Him “you.” God has a garden for you to meet Him at, and it’s up to us to go there because He is without a doubt waiting for us to fellowship with him. Never forget God loves you and would love to walk with you every day. I bet when you get there you will see it’s a beautiful place!

God bless you all
