OPINION/COLUMN

As your state representative, one of my top priorities is making sure that every constituent has the resources, guidance and support they need when navigating state government.

State agencies can sometimes be complex, and it’s easy to feel lost when trying to access programs or services, whether it’s for health and human services, education, infrastructure concerns or other state-related matters.

My office is here to help you understand your options and guide you through the process. Helping you make connections that can lead to real solutions is always a top priority.

While the Oklahoma Legislature does not handle federal issues directly, we can connect you with the right federal contacts, including U.S. senators or representatives, to ensure you receive the assistance you need at every level of government.

Our goal is to make the system less confusing and more responsive, so that residents feel supported and heard.

I am also pleased to share a success story from our district. The Lexington Public Works Authority recently received $1.5 million in loan forgiveness through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund administered by the Oklahoma Water Resources Board.

This funding will allow the Authority to conduct a Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Survey across its system, helping to ensure safe and reliable service for the community.

These efforts reflect the core responsibilities of government, which are providing assistance, creating solutions, and supporting local communities. My office remains committed to helping our residents navigate state programs and celebrating the investments that improve the quality of life across our district.

In other recent news, a federal judge has blocked Oklahoma from enforcing its new 340B drug pricing law, which aimed to help hospitals across the state, including rural facilities that often operate on thin margins.

The law sought to protect hospital revenue by addressing restrictions drug makers were placing on who hospitals could contract with for discounted medications.

Hospital leaders, particularly in smaller communities, argued that these limits cut into the savings they rely on to fund patient care and keep local services running. I will continue to keep you all updated and please know rural healthcare is always on top-of-mind for me during session.

I care deeply about each of you and keep you in my prayers. I am grateful that I get to represent our great District 42.

I am here to listen to your concerns and answer any of your questions. My email address is cynthia.roe@okhouse.gov, or you can call my office at (405) 557-7365.

Rep. Cynthia Roe, a Republican, represents House District 42 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Her district includes portions of Cleveland, Garvin and McClain counties.
