Wayne Lee Bettes, of Oklahoma City, passed away November 22, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 74 years. Wayne was born March 5, 1948, in Norman, Oklahoma, to Lee W. Bettes, Jr. and Louise (Braisher) Davis. Wayne grew up in Norman, attended St. Joseph’s Parochial School and Middle Schools and after completing junior high school there he moved with his family to Paoli where he attended and graduated from Paoli High School. He earned the rank of SP4 in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. Wayne also earned the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Sharpshooter with the M-14 Rifle. After his tour of duty, he worked at various jobs including as a Paoli police officer, radio technician, and later worked most of his career as a mechanic and maintenance supervisor in a bowling alley maintaining the many machines. Oklahoma City has been his home for the past 15 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Bettes, Jr., and mother, Louise Davis; twin infant daughters, Lisa Rená and Jerry Dená; sister, Letha Anderson; and brother, Clayton Bettes.
Surviving family include his son and his wife, Brandon and Staci Bettes; brother, Larry Bettes; nieces, Holly Pitman and Jennifer Brandt; nephew, Brian Bettes; grandnephew, Barry Pitman; and stepmother, Wilma B. Jones.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Mt.
