Marlin Ray Flinn, of Elmore City, Oklahoma, was born June 14, 1948, in Chloe, West Virginia. He passed away February 12, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 73 years.
He spent his childhood days growing up in the hollar of West Virginia. Ray joined the U.S. Army at the age of 19 years. When he returned from his service in Vietnam, he met Wilma Carpenter and boom! The couple married on January 25, 1975 in Akron, Ohio.
He began his career with Shebester-Bechtel working on the floor of the rig and worked his way up to running a rig. He retired as a pusher in the oilfield. Ray enjoyed gardening, cars and traveling, and pestering his wife. It was a great time for him when he was fishing with his grandkids. The highlight of his life was his wife and grandchildren. He is remembered for teaching others in his life the importance of hard work and having fun.
Those left to keep sacred space for memories of his life and mourn his passing are his wife, Wilma Jane Flinn; son, Frank Flinn and wife, Rachael; daughter, Terri Wiggins and husband, Donald; grandchildren, Colton, Spencer and Chloe Flinn, Austen Wiggins, Harlee Wiggins and fiancé, Seth Combs; aunt, Lula Norman of Grantsville, West Virginia; and sister-in-law, Roberta Travis and husband, Ted.
Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in the Elmore City Cemetery with Quintin Magruder officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. You may send condolences to the family at www.woosterfuneralhomes.com.
