Margie Mae Cain was born November 2, 1944, in Mt. Ida, Arkansas, to William Arlis Mayberry and Ethel Mae (Reed) Mayberry. She passed away peacefully February 15, 2026, at her home in Elmore City, surrounded by those who loved her dearly.
Margie’s childhood was filled with simple joys — fishing, going to church, attending school, and spending treasured time with her siblings and cousins. It was during those early years that she met the love of her life, Kenneth Wayne Cain. She graduated from Exeter High School in Exeter, California, and on January 11, 1962, she married Kenneth in Farmersville, California, beginning a lifelong love story built on devotion and partnership.
Margie dedicated much of her working career to Bowsmith Inc. in Exeter, California. She was also a longtime employee of Walmart, where she eventually retired as a pharmacy technician. Her strong work ethic was matched only by her deep love for her family. Margie’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her beloved husband and caring for her family. She loved fishing, picking fruit, attending church and watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. If Kenneth had a hobby, it quickly became hers as well — especially attending field trials by his side. Together, they shared not just a marriage, but a true partnership. She was known for her warm kitchen and open heart. Her tacos, fried cabbage, chocolate gravy and big breakfasts were favorites among family and friends.
Margie loved taking care of her family — and the many “extras” who found their way into her home. Her door was always open, and so was her heart. If you knew Margie, you knew you were loved. She stepped up without hesitation to help raise her brothers-in-law and sisters-inlaw when they needed her. She never met a stranger and was truly the sweetest soul. Margie lived her faith daily, teaching those around her to keep their eyes on Jesus, to love everyone they meet and to care for one another unconditionally. Through her words and her actions, she taught her family the true meaning of love and the true meaning of family.
Margie is survived by her son, Robert Cain and wife Janet of Moore, Oklahoma; daughters, Donna Barbee and husband Mike of the home, Kristi Brown and husband Jimmy of Elmore City, Oklahoma; brother, John Monroe Mayberry of Elmore City, Oklahoma; Iva Jean McDaniel of Farmersville, California; grandchildren, Dennis “Shorty” Hedgecoth of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Tiffani Wilkerson and husband Stephen of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Alisha Keck and husband Bradly of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Andrew Cain and husband Hector of Moore, Oklahoma, Austin Brown and wife Hailey of Maysville, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, TJ Hedgecoth, Lucas Cain, Marley Gallup, Kaden Keck, Kenlee Hedgecoth, Ali Keck, Braleigh Edgar, Rhyder Edgar, Rylan Beverly, Bria Hedgecoth, Gabriel Cain, Azrael Cain; numerous nieces and nephews that loved her dearly; and a host of other friends and family.
