Lana Kay Turner Wood Greenwood

Lana Kay Turner Wood Greenwood was born in Ada, Oklahoma, October 26, 1949, to Victor Kenneth (Joe) and Mary Helen (Barker) Turner. She passed away August 4, 2022, at the age of seventy-two years, in Ada following a brief illness. Lana was a kind soul with a fighting spirit, full of resilience in the face of adversity, overcoming many obstacles during her life, including cancer. She grew up in Stratford with her older brother, Joe Martin “Marti” Turner, sister, Carol (Lamb) and younger sister, Dixie (Ross). Lana was a member of the Stratford Round up Club and Queen in 1967, she was also Valedictorian in her 1967 graduating class. Lana advanced her education at East Central University completing a bachelors degree in math and two masters degrees in counseling and school administration. After college, she went on to teach high school for 27 years, following retirement from education she became an auditor for Walmart, working there almost 19 years. Lana was a very disciplined and driven woman, expecting the same of her students, many of whom took the solid base Lana instilled in them to further their own successful careers. It made her very proud to hear of her students’ achievements.

Lana was a member of the Stratford Free Will Baptist Church where she very much enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She also found great joy in quilting, sewing and listening to almost any genre of music. She married Leslie Wood in 1969 and from this marriage came two children, Leslie Dianne Mann (Shawn), Cody Joe Wood (Rebekah); and five grandchildren, John and Slade Mann and Matt, Andi and Charlie Wood.

In January 2020, Lana and Ronnie Greenwood were joined in marriage. Ronnie along with his wonderful family loved and welcomed her as one of their own. She was proud to be a part of the family and they shared many good times. Cody and Dianne will forever be grateful to the Greenwood family for the love and kindness shown to their mother.

Lana was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Helen Turner; brother, Joe “Marti” Turner; nieces, Tamara Turner and Victoria Little; and nephew, Kerry Little.

Survivors include her husband, Ronnie, of the home; her two children; five grandchildren; two sisters; one sister-in-law, Joanne Turner; brothers-in-law, Walt Lamb and David Ross; and a host of other close friends and family.

Services were held Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the Stratford Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Lewis Perry officiating. Burial followed at McGee Cemetery under the direction of DeArman-Pickard Funeral Home, Stratford, Oklahoma.
