JERRY G MERCER

Jerry Gwin Mercer gained his wings on March 2, 2022 and is now with his heavenly father. He was born January 21, 1944, to Ishmel and Norene ( Tinnin) Mercer in Oil Center, Oklahoma.

Jerry grew up in the Stratford, Oklahoma, area and graduated from Stratford High School in May of 1961. He married Linda Griffith on June 4, 1964, in Stratford. They made their home in Stratford. Jerry attended college for two years and graduated from Southwest Auto School in 1965. He joined the Army, served our country in the National Guard and received an honorable discharge as Specialist 4 USAR on April 30, 1972. Jerry worked for Ada Auto Supply as a machinist and for 15 years in Shawnee at the Car Paint Company. He was presently employed at Napa Auto in Ada. He attended the Restoration Church in Ada.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ishmel and Norene Mercer; sister, Janice Ross; and brothers, Garmon Mercer and Larry Mercer.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda Mercer; daughter, Jenny Mercer; son, Joel Mercer and wife, Cynthia; four grandchildren, Brennan, Matthew, Zachary and McKaelynn; six grandchildren, Isis, Lillie, Vaughn, Amaya, Jasper and Emmerie; brothers, Deverle Mercer and wife, June, of Duncanville, Texas, Connie Mercer and wife, Billie, of Stratford, Oklahoma.

Services were held March 7, 2022, at the Restoration Church, Ada, Oklahoma with Rev. Brock Barrett officiating. Burial followed at the Corley Cemetery south of Stratford. Arrangements were under the direction of DeArman-Pickard Funeral Home, Stratford, Oklahoma.
