Gary Edward Neve

Good morning, today we celebrate the life of Gary Edward Neve, a man who was as intelligent and analytical as he was loving. Gary, who went by his first name, was born June 1, 1952, in Lethbridge, Canada, in the province of Alberta and passed away April 2, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of professional excellence, unwavering love for his family and a vibrant passion for life.

Gary's journey began in Canada, but his talents and dreams knew no borders. He found his calling in the field of finance, becoming a certified public accountant, a title he held with pride for over 40 years. His keen analytical mind led him to the role of chief financial officer for numerous corporations throughout his illustrious career, where his intelligence and love for his work shone brightly.

He shared his life with his husband, Don McCaskill, of their home in San Antonio, Texas. Together, they built a life filled with joy, companionship and mutual respect. Gary's family was the cornerstone of his existence. His sister, Lori Valentinsen, her husband, Jimm, and his long-term friend and mother of his children, Connie Neve, remember him as a pillar of strength and love. His son, Brad, and his wife, Lene, of Norway, and his daughter, Andrea, and her husband, Nicholas, of Canada, along with stepchildren, Lacie Ramming and her husband, Jacob, Brandon McCaskill and his wife, Kortney, and Jordan Jenkins, and her husband, Brent, all residing in Oklahoma, reflect the best of Gary's character in their own lives.

The light of Gary's life shone further onto his grandchildren—Elijah, Jonathan, Jonah and Emma—as well as his step-grandchildren Cord, Karlie, Wyatt, Raelee, Baylee, Moxie and Beckett. Each held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom and laughter in equal measure.

Outside of his professional and family life, Gary's interests were as unique as they were heartfelt. He was an avid collector of American head vases, each piece a testament to his appreciation for intricate artistry. His home was filled with the sounds of his beloved dogs and parrots, creatures he cared for with the same depth of affection he showed to his human companions.

As we remember Gary, we are reminded of the words of the great William Shakespeare, 'We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep.' Gary's dreams were realized in his accomplishments, his relationships and his ability to touch the lives of those around him. He was a dreamer, but also a doer, who approached every challenge with a loving heart and an analytical and logical mindset with his type A personality trait.

To have known Gary was to know someone truly special. His warmth, intelligence and analytical prowess were evident to all who had the pleasure of his company. He lived a life that was full, not just in years, but in experiences, love and laughter. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him, encouraging us to approach life with the same passion and dedication he exemplified.

As we say goodbye to Gary Neve, let us not dwell on the sorrow of his departure but rather celebrate the profound impact he made on the world. His legacy is one of love, intelligence and dedication—a legacy that will endure in the hearts and minds of his family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with this remarkable man.

Goodnight, Gary. Thank you for everything. There will be a memorial service for Gary Neve at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at The Foundation Church, 705 Mays St., Maysville, Oklahoma.
