Eva Marie Marks

Eva Marie Marks, of Stratford, Oklahoma, was born July 2, 1924, in Whelen Springs, Arkansas, to James Robert Windham and Luda Luna (Wingfield) Windham. She passed away on June 22, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 97 years, 11 months and 20 days.

She grew up in Whelen Springs and Gurdon, Arkansas, where she graduated high school. She worked as a Rosie the Riveter in Rhode Island and married her husband, Raymond James Marks, after the war. They traveled all over the world while he worked in the oil fields. She loved her family, cooking and traveling. After working in the oil fields they moved to Houston where they managed apartment buildings. Mrs. Marks went back to school where she received her medical transcriptionist certificate and started the Women's Auxiliary at East Texas Medical Center where she served as the first President. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; three daughters, Luna Marie Reed, Mary Janet Williams and Francis Ellen Brewton; five grandchildren, Chuck and Laura Reed, Rene' Wemple, Raymond Brewton and Jason Williams.

Mrs. Marks is survived by two sons, Bob Marks and wife, Linda and Jim Marks of Stratford; nine grandchildren, Michelle Holland and husband, Jon, Brandon Williams and wife, Kim, Venus Malone and husband, Matt, Kelly Moreau and husband, Ron, Evan Brewton and wife, Carol, Angela Fitch and husband, Jason, Bert Marks and wife, Christy, Jeff Marks, and Cassie Alexander and husband, Jason; and by several great and great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 27, 2022, in the United Methodist Church Stratford, Oklahoma, with Rev. Charles Baughman officiating, assisted by Royce Williams, under the direction of DeArman-Pickard Funeral Home, Stratford. Interment was June 29, 2022, in Bethel Springs Cemetery Gurdon, Arkansas. Welch Funeral Home, Arkadelphia, Arkansas, handled the arrangements.
