Clara Jo Smith

Clara Jo Smith, of Pauls Valley, passed away October 17, 2025 in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years.

Clara Jo Moore was born February 26, 1934 in Maysville, Oklahoma, to James Edmon and Bertha (Rose) Moore.

She married Billy Joe Smith in Elmore City, Oklahoma, on December 13, 1955. She loved playing games like dominoes and Yahtzee and working puzzles. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and was always thrilled to see her grandkids and great-grandbabies play. She has always been about family. She loved going on vacation, camping and fishing, with them.

She worked at the Pauls Valley General Hospital for 21 years until her retirement in 1991. Clara Jo was an active member of the Beaty Baptist Church. She believed and trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ. She had lived 10 years in Oklahoma City, but most of her life she made her home in the Pauls Valley area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bertha (Rose) Moore; a son, Randy Smith; a grandson, Lane Smith; a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Thomas; five brothers, Billy, Ray, Howard, Ralph and Homer Moore; and four sisters, Ida Hogue, Joyce Wood, Cordy Moore and Bobbie Norton.

Clara Jo was survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Billy Joe Smith, of the home; two children, Rosa and her husband, Eugene Williams, of Pauls Valley; David and his wife, Linda Smith, of Lone Grove; and daughter-in-law Tanya Smith; five grandchildren, Tyler, Jessica, Trevor, Kayla and Ashley; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Junior Moore, of Blanchard; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Pastor Glenn Alley.
