Charles E. Brady II

Charles E. Brady II entered this life on God’s earth on August 20, 1947, and entered God’s Heaven on March 24, 2023. He was born to C.E. and Mattie Brady in Wewoka, Oklahoma.

Shortly thereafter C.E. Brady moved his family to Ada, Oklahoma, so that his children could live in a college town. They located in Latta where Charles attended Latta schools, graduating in 1965. He then attended East Central University in Ada graduating with a degree in Industrial Arts/Speech in 1971. During his time in college, he also worked for the Ada Brick Plant, a furniture manufacturing plant, Hydroconduit building bridge beams, and Reece Scott Manufacturing building church pews. In 1972, at College Heights Missionary Baptist Church while leading singing, he met the love of his life – Carla Phillips. They dated throughout college and were married on June 9, 1972, at Katie Missionary Baptist Church. They celebrated 50 years of marriage last year. Charles taught Woodshop and Drafting for 30 years and then Speech, Journalism, English, and a Bible class at Elmore City for the next 15 years. His wife, Carla, taught 2nd grade at Pauls Valley for one year and then 1st grade at Elmore City until 2015 when they both retired.

On May 24, 1977, Charles Edward Brady III entered this life on God’s earth. On July 15, 2000, his son Charles III married Penni Nolen. On February 1, 2004, Charles Edward Brady IV entered this life on God’s earth. On April 23, 2007, Calin Lou Brady entered this life on God’s earth. Even though he enjoyed hunting and fishing, his family was the highlight of his life. He and his family were lifelong Missionary Baptist devoted to spreading God’s Word. He always put the Lord first, followed directly by his family.

They only had one son, but many children that they considered their own. During his teaching career, Charles was the president of the local Oklahoma Education Association (OEA) and the spokesman for their negotiation team. He and his wife Carla were in charge of a zone teacher’s meeting for southern Oklahoma for several years. He was also on an OEA State Committee for many years. He was honored by his former students by being inducted into the “Order of the Arrow” with the Boys Scouts of America.

Even though his career was in public education, his career was dedicated to teaching anyone he met about life. Whether behind a school desk, a table, saw, a fishing rod, or a deer rifle, he lived to show everyone how God was in every breath. While at home with his family, you could find him tinkering with a tool box, feeding cattle, or on a tractor. The man never was still a moment and never met a stranger past hello.

He is survived by his wife, Carla; his son, Charles III and wife Penni; grandchildren, Charles IV and Calin Lou of Ardmore, Oklahoma; his sister, Linda Williams of Tuscola, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. His family that was waiting and welcomed him into God’s Heaven include his parents, C.E. and Mattie Brady; his sister, Wanita “Danley” Plunk; and a host of his beloved family.

Services for Charles “Mr. Brady” were held March 28, 2023, at Elmore City First Baptist Church. His body will take a brief rest in Katie Cemetery until God picks it up again.
